Actress Biodun Stephen Recounts Her Depression Experience
Biodun Stephen, a Nigerian actress, has disclosed that her failure to land acting parts has caused her to suffer from despair.
She revealed it during a recent conversation with media personality Chude Jideonwo.
Biodun acknowledged leaving acting because she believed it was not her calling.
The filmmaker said after going for multiple auditions, she felt “depressed and really frustrated” because the outcomes were not positive.
“I cannot remember the date, but I knew it was in October, I broke down, I could not watch TV, because I will go to auditions with someone, and I would look at them and wonder what is wrong with me, why am I not getting picked and I was questioning everything,” she said.

“None of it was you cannot act, so it got really depressing, really frustrating and I thought maybe, this acting thing was not for me and I put it aside and went to work.
“I said to God, you gave me this talent, take it away, in accepting, I had to tell God, take this feeling away. Do not let me think about film. Do not let me think about acting, because this particular one is not working.”
The filmmaker recently spoke about the challenges she faced in her early years of marriage.
