“A well-deserving artist of Ukraine, Oksana Shvets, was killed during the rocket bombardment of a residential building in Kyiv,” the statement adds.

Shvets was born on the 10th of February, 1955. She graduated from the Kiev State Institute of Theater Arts and the Ivan Franko Theater’s theatrical studio. Shvets also worked at the Ternopil Music and Drama Theater and the Kiev Theater of Satire before joining the Young Theater. Her film and television credits include Tomorrow Will Be Tomorrow, The Secret of St. Patrick, The Return of Mukhtar, and the series “House With Lilies,” in addition to her theatrical work.

Public figures such as Shvets have become the newest victims of the Russian invasion in Ukraine. Actor Pasha Lee was reported dead earlier this month after he joined the military to defend the country. Fox News camera operator and war journalist Peter Zackrewski and Ukrainian journalist Oleksandra Kuvshynova were both killed this week while reporting outside Kyiv.
