Suspected Extremists Kill 5 Igbo Traders At Madala Market In Niger State For Failing To Recite The Quran

Fear has gripped residents of Madala, a suburb in Niger State close to the Federal Capital Territory, FCT, after suspected extremists killed five traders believed to be Igbo last week at the Madala Market.

The extremists had reportedly stormed one of the lines in the market owned by the traders and immediately ordered them to recite the Holy Quran and when they could not, opened fire at close range, killing them instantly.

The five casualties have been identified as John Kalu, Oliver Ezemah, Uche Nguweze, Sunday Emmanuel while the identity of the fifth victim is yet to be identified.

The suspected extremists fled the scene of the shooting before the police arrived the scene of the incident.

Confirming the incident, the Niger State Police Command spokesman, ASP Richard Adamu, said the police had begun a manhunt for the shooters.
