Xenophobia: ‘It’s Unpardonable’ – PDP Blasts South Africa

The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has joined many across the continent in condemning the killing of Nigerians and other foreign nationals in the latest xenophobic attacks in South Africa.

Nigeria’s main opposition party in a statement issued by its National Publicity Secretary, Kola Ologbondiyan, described the attacks as condemnable, inexcusable, completely unpardonable act.

Ologbondiyan called on members of the National Assembly to come to the rescue, by cutting short their recess for an emergency session to forcefully address the plight of Nigerians in South Africa.

“The National Assembly is called upon to immediately engage South African authorities for explanations on the attacks on our compatriots and seek options to address the situation in the interest of all,” he said.

President Muhammadu Buhari yesterday sent a special envoy to South Africa to express the nation’s displeasure over the senseless killings.

But many commentators called for a more aggressive stand from the Nigerian government in the wake of the brutal crimes committed against Nigerians in the country.
